If you are an beginner or intermediate street photographer and want to conquer your fear of shooting in the streets or looking to improve your skills, this workshop is for you. Through this dynamic and hands-on 2-day workshop you will get to learn:
  1. How to get over the fear of shooting street photography
  2. How to shoot candid images without anybody noticing you
  3. How to tell a story with your photos
  4. The best technical settings to use in street photography
  5. The secret of converting your photos into beautiful black and whites
  6. How to react to people who get offended by street photography
  7. How to capture “The Decisive Moment
  8. The laws of street photography
  9. What techniques for taking great street photographs
  10. The history of street photography

The workshop will consist of presentations with insightful tips and techniques for shooting captivating street photographs. In addition, the workshop will be less lecture-based and more focused on group discussion and interaction. During the workshop you will be able to showcase your street photography, and get helpful comments and critiques from fellow street photographers. Not only that, but you will meet other supportive and passionate street photographers that will continue to help you even after the workshop.

What differentiates this street photography workshop with other workshops is that it will cover practical tips and tricks of how to shoot on the streets. Therefore it is focused more on shooting and less on theory.

On both days you will have the opportunity to apply what you learn through an accompanied on-the-street photography assignment with Eric and Gary and the other participants. After the outing, you will get your best images commented and critiqued by us and the rest of the participants.

Not only will you learn how to shoot on the streets with more confidence, you will also learn how to choose your best work and post-process your images via Lightroom 3 and how to create beautiful black and white images with Silver Efex Pro.

Although street photography can be intimidating, this workshop will teach you the practical skills on how to become more courageous and bold. You will learn how to capture “the beauty in the mundane” through candid images of people in their ordinary environments. Street photography is a wonderful craft, and this workshop will be helpful for those who want to get their feet wet!

After attending this workshop, many past participants have built their confidence shooting in the streets, learned how to get closer to people, can identify great street photography opportunities, and have kept in touch with one another. This is not just a street photography workshop. It is a chance to build a community of friends and passionate street photographers that will last far after the workshop is over.

The workshop will run from 24th – 26th February 2012 (Friday evening, and all day Saturday and Sunday) in the heart of Sheung Wan, a great location for street photography in Hong Kong.
